Privacy Policy
Our Privacy Promise
Scores of Chores is made by 3rd Way Co. The product is designed to help families manage chores, homework, reading, errands, XP, rewards, and approvals without turning family data into a product.
Our simple promise:
We collect only what we need to make Scores of Chores work. We do not sell your data. We do not sell your child's data. We do not use family data for advertising.
What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Scores of Chores handles information collected through our website, waitlist, and app.
The website is used for product information, parent guides, launch notifications, and related updates. The app is used by parents and kids together to manage family responsibilities and rewards.
Information we collect on the website
If you join the launch waitlist, we collect your email address so we can send product updates, early access information, launch announcements, and important notices about Scores of Chores.
The website waitlist is not designed to collect child names, family chore details, reward details, payment information, or private family activity.
Waitlist information may include:
- Email address
- Date and time of signup
- Basic source information, such as the signup page used
Information the app may collect
Scores of Chores collects only the information needed to operate the family account, support sign-in, create parent-managed child profiles, assign work, track XP, manage rewards, send useful notifications, and let parents approve completed work.
App information may include:
- Parent account information used for sign-in
- Display names and selected in-app avatars
- Family setup information
- Child profiles created or managed by a parent
- Rooms, chores, homework, reading, errands, goals, and XP
- Reward settings and reward redemption activity
- Submitted work and parent approval status
- Device notification tokens used to deliver app alerts
- Limited diagnostic information if the app crashes
We do not intentionally collect birthdates, school names, phone numbers, home addresses, precise location, contacts, calendars, or microphone audio.
How we use information
We use information only to provide and improve Scores of Chores. For example, we use family setup information to show the right chores, XP, rewards, and approval screens to the right family members.
We may also use information to send product-related messages, deliver app notifications, protect accounts, diagnose crashes, improve reliability, comply with legal obligations, and respond to support or privacy requests.
We do not use child or family data for targeted advertising. We do not sell child or family data. We do not profile children for advertising.
Children's privacy and parent control
Scores of Chores is designed for family use and is managed by parents or guardians. Parents create or manage the family account, child profiles, chores, rewards, and approval decisions.
For children under 13, we are designing Scores of Chores to comply with applicable children's privacy requirements, including COPPA. Where required, we obtain verifiable parental consent before enabling features that collect or sync a child's personal information across devices.
Parents can review, update, or delete information associated with their family account. Parents can also contact us with questions about their child's information.
Parent control matters.
Scores of Chores is built so parents manage the family account, control the child experience, and approve the work that earns XP.
Verification photos
Scores of Chores may allow a child to use a photo as temporary proof that a chore, task, or goal was completed. These photos are intended only to help the parent review and approve the submitted work.
Before parent verification, photo proof is designed to remain local to the device. After parent verification, a photo may be temporarily uploaded so a parent can review the submission from another device.
Verification photos are not intended to create a permanent photo archive. Approved photo submissions are deleted within approximately 60 seconds after approval. Rejected photo submissions may be retained for up to 24 hours so a parent can re-review the decision, then they are automatically deleted.
We do not use verification photos for advertising. We do not sell verification photos. We do not use verification photos to train AI models.
Plain-language version:
Photos are temporary proof for parents. They are not for advertising, resale, profiling, AI training, or long-term storage.
Parent verification
Some cross-device features may require a parent or guardian to verify that they are the adult responsible for the family account. This helps us confirm parental involvement before enabling features that may collect or sync child information.
We obtain verifiable parental consent through an FTC-recognized monetary transaction method: a $0 card authorization handled by Stripe. Scores of Chores does not store full payment card details. We store only the limited confirmation needed to know that the parent verification step was completed.
Parents may withdraw consent by deleting the family account or by contacting us for help with privacy-related requests.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate Scores of Chores. These providers help us with account sign-in, secure data storage, cross-device sync, temporary verification photo storage, notifications, crash diagnostics, parent verification, website hosting, and email delivery.
Major service providers include:
- Firebase, a Google service, for authentication, database storage, temporary photo storage, notifications, crash diagnostics, and app infrastructure.
- Stripe for verifiable parental consent through a $0 card authorization.
- Website and email service providers used to host the website, manage the waitlist, and send product-related messages.
These providers are allowed to process information only to provide services to Scores of Chores. They are not allowed to use family data for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
We do not sell family data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell your child's personal information. We do not sell family chore, reward, behavior, progress, photo, or XP data.
Scores of Chores is not being built as an advertising business. We do not use child or family data for targeted advertising.
Product communications
If you join the waitlist or create an account, we may send product-related messages such as launch updates, early access invitations, feature updates, account notices, security notices, or important service information.
We do not intend to send unrelated marketing emails. We will provide a way to unsubscribe from non-essential update emails. Some account, safety, privacy, or service messages may still be necessary.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide Scores of Chores, maintain the family account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect the service, or support account deletion and privacy requests.
General retention approach:
- Family, chore, reward, and XP records are kept while the family account remains active.
- Approved verification photos are deleted within approximately 60 seconds after approval.
- Rejected verification photos may be retained for up to 24 hours, then deleted automatically.
- Crash diagnostic reports may be retained for up to 90 days to help improve reliability.
- Parent verification records are kept while needed to document consent and operate the account.
- Some deleted data may remain in service-provider backups for a limited period, typically up to approximately 30 days, before it is purged from backup systems.
- Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request removal.
For step-by-step account deletion instructions, visit our Delete Account page.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information used by Scores of Chores. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but the product is designed around data minimization, account security, parent control, restricted access, and short retention windows for sensitive temporary data.
We also limit what we collect in the first place. The safest data is data we never ask for.
Access, correction, and deletion
Parents can review and update much of their family information inside the app, including display names, avatars, chores, rooms, rewards, and related family settings.
Parents may request access to information, correction of inaccurate information, removal from the waitlist, or deletion of account information by contacting us.
The app is being designed to support account deletion from inside the product. Deleting a family account removes the family's account data, child profiles, chores, rewards, submissions, and temporary verification photos from active systems, subject to limited backup, legal, security, or operational requirements.
For step-by-step account deletion instructions, visit our Delete Account page.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information. You may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing.
For California residents, we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. For users in the EU, EEA, or UK, our legal basis for processing parent account information is generally to provide the service requested, and our legal basis for child information is generally parental consent where required.
To exercise privacy rights, contact us using the email address at the bottom of this page.
Changes to this policy
Scores of Chores is moving from pre-launch development toward active product availability. We may update this policy as the product evolves, especially as account management, child profiles, parent verification, temporary photo proof, XP, and reward features are finalized.
When we make material updates, we will update this page and, when appropriate, provide product or in-app notices.
